FOSDEM 2026
On 31 January and 1 February 2026 takes place in Brussels again the FOSDEM As one of the most important events for developers of free and open-source software, FOSDEM brings together several thousand experts every year to exchange knowledge, discuss new approaches and further develop joint solutions.
This year, the Forum SCS-Standards and ZenDis its own Devroom entitled:
Building Europe’s Public Digital Infrastructure
The Devroom is dedicated to key issues surrounding the development of a secure, interoperable and fully sovereign digital infrastructure for the public sector in Europe. It will address both the technological foundations and the organisational and structural aspects of a resilient, open digital ecosystem landscape.
The following topics, among others, will be covered:
- Practical examples and success stories of confident cloud solutions in the public sector
- Open-source software for collaboration, communication and data exchange between public authorities
- Standardisation and certification of digitally sovereign infrastructures and services
- Joint development of sovereign digital workplace solutions such as La Suite Numérique and openDesk
- Automation of provisioning, configuration and operation on sovereign infrastructures
- Federation of infrastructure components and migration of federated workspace solutions
- Challenges in the practical operation of secure infrastructures and services
- Exchange of best practices to strengthen digital sovereignty across national borders
The Devroom thus provides a solid platform for experts from administration, research and technology to share experiences and discuss concrete approaches for establishing a sustainable public digital infrastructure across Europe.
