IT Days 2026 in Frankfurt am Main
From 7 to 10 December 2026 Developers, architects, DevOps and security specialists will be meeting at the IT Days at the conference centre Cape Europe in Frankfurt am Main. The conference, organised by Informatik Aktuell, is one of the largest IT events in the German-speaking world: Around 300 presentations, workshops, keynotes and labs are spread across 20 parallel thematic sessions – ranging from software architecture and development, through databases, DevOps and the cloud, to IT security, Agile, AI, open source and digital sovereignty. Up to 1,200 participants are expected to attend in person.
New to the 2026 programme is the Digital Sovereignty Forum, which brings together talks, workshops and an accompanying exhibition focusing on sovereign IT infrastructures. Over 50 sessions at the conference are explicitly dedicated to the topic of digital sovereignty – ranging from legal and strategic perspectives to concrete technical implementations using open-source technologies.
Sovereign Cloud Stack at the IT Days
Within this wide-ranging programme on sovereignty, there are three talks that deal specifically with the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) deal with:
„The Cloud and Digital Sovereignty 2026: Between “indexitis’ and genuine added value”

The presentation takes a close look at the sovereignty indices and certifications currently being promoted by cloud providers, which they use to position themselves as „sovereign“ – often based on criteria that play into the hands of their own offerings. Using concrete case studies and from the perspective of the Sovereign Cloud Stack – the Open Source Business Alliance’s open-source initiative – Felix distinguishes between what is technically sound and what delivers genuine customer value – and what remains mere marketing positioning.
„The Sovereign Cloud in Practice: What the Sovereign Cloud Stack Really Delivers“
Speaker: Johannes Meyer (noris network) · Tuesday, 8 December 2026, 3.00–3.45 pm
Using noris network as an example, Johannes demonstrates how the Sovereign Cloud Stack, based on OpenStack, is operated to ensure „100 % European sovereignty“. As a German company without a US parent company, noris operates exclusively under German and European law and is therefore outside the scope of the US Cloud Act. The presentation is aimed at decision-makers who wish to reconcile cloud usage with regulatory requirements.
„Open source from infrastructure to end users: a robust stack based on SCS standards“

The presentation introduces the SCS initiative as an open, vendor-neutral cloud ecosystem and demonstrates how digital sovereignty can be extended all the way to end users: by combining an SCS-certified OpenStack infrastructure with the Cloudogu EcoSystem as an operating platform. The focus is on practical interchangeability between infrastructure and software providers through modular tool stacks.
