With the current decision of the IT Planning Council the standards of the Sovereign Cloud Stack will become a central component of the so-called Germany Stack. This means that the public sector will increasingly rely on open, verifiable and provider-independent cloud technologies in future.
The Germany Stack is a central digitalisation project of the federal government with the aim of creating a common technological basis for the federal, state and local governments - from basic infrastructures to specific digital services for citizens. The focus is particularly on scalability, security and strengthening digital sovereignty.
The Open Source Business Alliance e.V. has published a press release announcing the decision, which emphasises the positive development for SCS in the German stack.
