Digital construction coordination on a secure cloud platform

Planyverse operates its platform on SCS infrastructure

Technical details:

A greenfield architecture based on a KaaS platform was chosen for the implementation; this comprises:

  • Kubernetes-based operations in the ScaleUp Open Cloud
  • Containerised services based on Docker/OCI
  • Using persistent volumes within the Kubernetes cluster
  • Integration of external persistence solutions (e.g. S3 object storage, graph databases)
  • API-based integration with third-party platforms
  • Automated workflows and event-driven processes

Operational experience shows that this architecture is particularly well suited to dynamic, workflow-driven applications with high demands on availability, scalability and flexible infrastructure resources.

Background

Planyverse is developing a platform for the digital coordination of construction projects, which enables the exchange, management and updating of planning documents, as well as the implementation of complex workflows for main contractors. The aim was to create a powerful and scalable environment that simultaneously meets high compliance requirements and ensures high-performance operation for users based predominantly in Germany.

Procedure

Planyverse relies on a KaaS platform for its operations, in which ScaleUp Open Cloud, on which Kubernetes-based workloads are run. Key factors in the decision were, in particular, the managed Kubernetes offering compared with other providers, as well as the location in Germany, which both supports regulatory requirements and reduces latency for users. The platform was developed as a greenfield project and has been in production in this environment from the outset.

Result

In day-to-day operations, Planyverse benefits from reproducible deployments, zero-downtime updates and self-healing mechanisms that ensure high availability. At the same time, the architecture enables flexible scaling and the use of resources in line with demand. The combination of cluster-internal and external persistence solutions ensures adaptable data storage.

The solution is designed for the long term and is continuously being developed. Its alignment with the principles of the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) enhances interoperability, reduces dependencies and creates an open, standardised infrastructure. This enables Planyverse to respond flexibly to new requirements and to develop its platform sustainably.
