The UPONU GmbH has been operating its own data centres for more than 200 customers with high data protection and availability requirements for over 12 years. In order to meet growing challenges such as rising licence costs, dependencies on proprietary manufacturers and limited scalability, the company decided to UPONU 2023 for a fundamental transformation of their cloud infrastructure.

With the support of the stackXperts GmbH the switch from a VMware environment to an SCS-compliant OpenStack platform was realised within just six months. Around 1,500 virtual servers were successfully migrated in the process. The aim was to create a highly available, secure and scalable cloud solution that seamlessly takes over existing customer systems and fulfils the constantly growing requirements for performance and availability.

The decision in favour of SCS-based open source technologies was made on the basis of the active community and the further development supported.
